Just Got Made Breakfast Club Feb 2017 Sustainable textiles

“What does it mean to create sustainable textiles in 2017? ”

Just Got Made has invited two innovative fabric printers and two designers to talk about their current work and projects, including swimwear made from 100% recycled polyamides, pre-industrial indigo dying techniques, the principles of slow-made fashion and human-made leathers. 

Learn to we need to do better as an industry and how can we apply fresh ideas and perspectives to our own businesses.

Speakers

Nick Morley spent 20 years as Director of Sustainable Innovation at a research and consultancy company, before starting Faering Ltd, a studio which specialises in design-led digital textile print. Clients include John Smedley and Campaign for Wool. Fearing on Just Got Made

James Edmondson works at Elobina, a commercial textile printer moving away from mass production and instead creating bespoke pieces that will last and be cherished. Elobina print on certified organic cottons and is about to introduce a swimwear fabric made from 100% recycled polyamides. www.elobina.co.uk

Liza Mackenzie is a designer interested in the slow made movement. She founded Indigo Works in 2016, a bespoke design studio exploring pre-industrial dyeing techniques using Indigo. Indigo Works on Instagram

Tina Gorjanc is the designer behind the Pure Human project. Her work aims to explore and speculate on the potential of embedding biotechnologies into the fashion/textile industry to produce a leather-like material developed in the lab that reforms the production system for leather goods as we know it. www.tinagorjanc.com
