SEE THE PATTERN: SEWING INDIE MONTH

Just Got Made • 06 May 2014

This May hosts the first ‘Sewing Indie Month’, a celebration of independent sewing pattern designers and the dedicated community of makers who stitch along with them.

Twenty-one participating pattern designers have come together to show off their patterns and deliver a myriad of tutorials, interviews, competitions and sew-alongs (uninitiated, these are slightly mad online sewing challenges – photograph as you go!). Whether you’re an expert or novice, it’s a great opportunity to find new inspiration and give support to independent businesses. Organised by Mari from Seamster Patterns, full information can be found on the Seamster blog. And of course you can use our directory to find the perfect sewing services and supplies to help you along!

Here’s Just Got Made’s edit of the independent sewing pattern producers taking part in Sewing Indie Month. You’ll have never looked so stylish.

3. BY HAND LONDON

Could the By Hand London girls be any cooler?! Charlotte, Elizalex & Victoria specialise in creating up-to-date versions of classic silhouettes and have designed a particularly good collection of dresses to show off in.

4. SINBAD & SAILOR

These PDF patterns are designed by Londoner Hannah Britten, who decided to create a seasonal collection of patterns based on the catwalk rather than retro styles. Think modern and minimal.
Thread Theory

5. THREAD THEORY

And finally, some great patterns for men’s clothing by duo Morgan & Matthew Meredith. Amongst beautiful packaging and photography you will find well designed patterns including coats, a great pair of shorts, and a super pair of pants!
